Deacon Ministry

In the Church of the Brethren, there are 4 main function of the Deacon Ministry:

1. Health & Healing
2. Advocacy and Support
3. Discipleship and Hospitality
4. Unity and Reconciliation

The Deacons care for the spiritual and physical well-being of the church family in a variety ways:

• Preparing and serving Communion
• Preparing and assisting with Love Feast services
• Caring for members through visits, cards and calls
• Assisting with anointing services
• Supporting new members
• Participating in baby dedications
• Overseeing the Deacon Mercy Fund
• Planning an annual winter Bible study
• Serving as greeters after morning worship
• Providing spiritual discernment & guidance for the congregation
